KINGSTON, Mass. (AP) -- A teenage girl who was behind the wheel of a car that crashed head on into a school bus on prom day at Silver Lake High School is facing charges in connection with the collision that left two friends with serious brain injuries.

Monica Knight is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Plymouth on charges of reckless driving, failure to stay in marked lanes, a junior operator passenger violation, failure to wear a seat belt and possession of a Class B substance.

The Patriot Ledger reports Kingston police announced the charges Monday.

Police say the 16-year-old Knight was driving on March 30 when the car struck the bus near the school. The bus was empty and the driver wasn't seriously injured.

One passenger remains at a Boston rehabilitation hospital.
