Black bear sighted in Dedham

DEDHAM, Mass. (WHDH) -- Just a couple of weeks after a black bear was captured on Cape Cod, another bear is on the prowl, in another place no one expected to see one.
“We've seen everything else back here but not a bear before,” said Mary Ray.
Nina, Ray’s dog, caught the scent first. Her barking led Ray and her family out to their yard on Chestnut St in Dedham. That’s where they spotted a black bear sniffing around their tree.
“The bear just sort of ambled along, didn't come after anyone. Then he just went off into the woods.”
In May, a black bear was seen in towns all along the Cape, making its way eastward all the way to Provincetown.
Ray wondered if the bear she saw out here is on a bit of a trek too.
After popping up in her yard, a bear was seen in a cemetery just up the street.
On Saturday a black bear was spotted four times in Medfield. It was last seen off Granite Street about 24 hours before Nina made the discovery.
“We’ve seen everything else back here but not a bear before.”
Police said if you see the bear call them, do not try to feed it and do not try to follow it.
