RANDOLPH, Mass. (WHDH) -- Two state police cruisers were hit by drivers in separate crashes overnight, one by an alleged drunk driver in Randolph, a second at the site of a work detail in Newton.

In Randolph, police say a 25-year-old Weymouth woman, driving under the influence, drove into a cruiser before being rear-ended by another vehicle. She was expected to be arraigned in Quincy district court later Wednesday morning.

Five vehicles in all were involved in the early morning crash on Route 24 south. Two people suffered minor injuries while trying to avoid the accident; the trooper was outside of the cruiser at the time of the crash and was not injured.

In Newton, a short time later, state police say a driver crashed into a cruiser on the Mass Pike westbound near Route 16.

The car rolled over and ended up on its side, and police say the Jaws of Life had to be used to get the driver out of the vehicle. The trooper was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
