NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WHDH) -- Two men appeared in court Monday after they allegedly tried to rob a family store in New Bedford.

Jesse DosSantos and Eduardo Torres-Lopez stood before a judge Monday afternoon. Both men pleaded not guilty to charges of armed robbery and assault.

The suspects are accused of robbing a New Bedford store Friday afternoon but an 80-year-old woman wouldn't let them get away without a fight.

Surveillance video from the store shows one suspect grabbing cash from the drawer. That's when the quick-thinking 80-year-old jumped into action.

She is seen running up to the counter and pelting the suspect with mangoes. Then, she doesn't stop as the man approaches and hits her in the head with the gun.

Police say the suspects took off with about $4,000 in cash. Officers arrested the men a short time later.

The woman told 7News that she's okay following that attack and will soon be back on her feet.

The suspects will be back in court for a dangerousness hearing on Friday.
