Quincy man allegedly points gun at tow truck driver

QUINCY, Mass. (WHDH) -- A Quincy man is facing serious charges after police said he pulled out a gun and threatened to kill a tow truck driver.

Brian Carroll, 42, of Quincy has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to kill. Police said he pointed his loaded 9MM handgun at a tow truck driver who had mistakenly towed Carroll's car.

“He just comes out with a gun and starts screaming at me and points the gun at me and says, ‘it’s either his car or my life,’” said Mike, tow truck driver.

Police received 911 calls from both sides; the first was a complaint from the suspect himself.

Mike, the tow truck driver, admitted he towed Carroll's car from a large apartment complex in Quincy late Sunday night because he said he didn’t see a resident parking sticker on it. But after Carroll called and complained Mike said he checked again and found the sticker under the tinted part of the window.

Mike said he returned to apologize and give the car back, but said Carroll responded by pointing a gun in his face. That’s when mike's sister called 911.

“This guy is crazy, he said, ‘I’m going to take you all down, wait and see,’” Mike’s sister told a 911 dispatcher.

Police said Carroll has a permit to carry a weapon, but Mike said that means nothing to him.

“If he can have a gun and a license to carry, then who else can?” Mike said.

Carroll was released on $100,000 cash bail and was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim.
