Worker dies in fall from Springfield highway

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- State police are investigating the death of a construction worker who fell about 60 feet from an Interstate 91 overpass he was working on in Springfield.

Authorities say the 46-year-old man fell at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday onto some railroad tracks below.

His name was not immediately made public.

Police said he worked for Liddell Brothers Inc. base in Halifax.

The death occurred during night work in the southbound lane of I-91 and temporarily interrupted rail service.

The investigation is ongoing.
