DUXBURY, Mass. (WHDH) -- Two women were attacked while they were jogging in Duxbury Thursday morning.
One runner was assaulted around 9:30 a.m. The other was attacked immediately after, but about three miles away.
“Very popular running spot -- both locations. Probably one of the most popular running spots in town,” one woman said.
Cressida Bounagurio’s routine morning jog along Crescent Street in Duxbury includes her black lab.
“Bamboo’s my running partner,” she said.
But a recent warning by police has sent her off track.
“What’s going through my mind is that he’s not caught. That’s the worst about what happened today is that he’s still out there,” said Bounagurio.
Police say around 9:30 Thursday morning a woman running on Crescent Street was physically assaulted by a man. They say he came up from behind, groped her, and then ran off into the woods.
But right before that incident, police say another woman jogger reported she was assaulted during her run on Powder Point Avenue.
Both women, police say, described a young man with long cargo shorts and a dark T-shirt.
Some runners in the area find it difficult to imagine in the coastal town.
“It’s a very popular running spot. Biking, running, walking. But they’re telling us to do it in pairs,” Bounagurio said.
Police said one way to stay safe is to find a running partner.
Police are investigating a possible third incident. They said it happened in August on another street.
