QUINCY, Mass. (WHDH) -- Injured veterans set out on a 330-mile bike ride on Monday as part of the “2012 UnitedHealthcare Ride 2 Recovery Minuteman Challenge.”
More than 200 injured veterans left from Quincy, Mass. on Monday and will arrive in New York City on Friday. On Monday they stopped at Gillette Stadium for lunch and met New England Patriots linebacker alum Eric Alexander, who also participated in part of the journey from Gillette.
Veterans, troops and supporters rode hand cycles, recumbent, tandems and traditional road bikes through New England. This is the first year “Ride 2 Recovery” has taken place in New England.
“Ride 2 Recovery” provides cycling rehabilitation programs for injured veterans.
