Police continue to search for suspect in Whitman case
WHITMAN, Mass. (WHDH) -- Police continue to search for a suspect who attempted to abduct an 8-year-old girl Saturday.
Police are looking for any help they can get to track down the man who they said tried to take a girl right outside of her grandparent’s house.
The grandparents said the girl was alone in front of the house because she was playing a game of hide-and-seek. Adults and other children were apparently behind the house when a stranger walked up the driveway and tried to grab the girl.
“I just saw cops flying down there,” said a local mother, Nancy Galawski.
Police are searching for the man who reportedly ran off Saturday evening when the little girl started screaming. It is a story that parents along Washington Street are now telling their children.
“I talked them since last night all until the morning about not going outside without a grown up. Don’t go to the door unless you know who it is,” said Galawski.
“Thank God my kids are teenagers now. Gotta keep an eye on them. It never ends. You just never know,” said a local father, Rick Pacetti.
Investigators said the suspect took off, heading south on Washington Street. The girl's grandparents said their granddaughter broke free and headed toward the house. She wasn't hurt, but some kids on Washington Street are being kept a little closer to home now.
Police said they're searching for a man who is between 6'1 and 6'4 with a thin build. They said he's probably in his thirties and he has pink scarring on his face.
