8-year-old girl shot in leg in Brockton

BROCKTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- Police are searching for a suspect after an 8-year-old was allegedly shot in the leg in Brockton.

The girl was hit at 560 North Montello Street. She was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police do not know if the alleged shooting took place inside or outside of the house. Police are investigating whether the shooting was random or if the girl was the intended target.

Police were one scene Friday night searching for the suspect described as a white male with blonde hair believed to be in his 20s. He is possibly traveling with a pit bull.
