QUINCY, Mass. (WHDH) -- A woman attempted to shoplift at a Quincy store on Wednesday, but the suspect left behind a very important clue; her weave.

“They did a good job. They are restricted to how much they can do. They don't have weapons, they aren’t allowed to detain anyone physically so they did their best to try to keep her in the store. Unfortunately, they couldn’t and they were threatened with a weapon so I would advise them, which they did not, to confront her after that,” said Lt. Jack Sullivan Quincy Police Dept.

Police said the suspect entered this Quincy Rite Aid on Wednesday. Moments later she was stopped by store security, accused of stealing a bottle of vodka. They tried to talk with the woman and that's when things got out of control.

“She told them that she was gonna tase them and at that point she then got up and they tried to prevent her from leaving the store and you can see in the video some store security and manager trying to stop her,” said Lt. Sullivan. “She makes her way to the door and as you can see there’s a struggle and she goes to the floor with a couple of the security people.”

In that struggle her weave fell to the ground and she bolted.

“When stores are busy that’s when people try to take advantage of things like that. You can see there’s quite a heavy security presence in the store, so the store was prepared for that being this time of year when it’s heavy shopping time,” said Lt. Sullivan.

Police know who the suspect is and are waiting for a warrant for her arrest.

“That will be a very good case. We don't anticipate having any problems with the case in court. We're gonna have several witnesses and we have videotape,” said Lt. Sullivan.
