DOUGLAS, Mass. (WHDH) -- A man was shot and killed in a hunting accident in Douglas Monday morning.
State Environmental Officers said the victim is a 56-year-old man. Since the investigation is ongoing, police could not disclose any further information.
“He was found by one of my brother’s buddies. He went out there to do some hunting and he found him and he said that he looked like he shot himself in the head,” said Tim Campbell, a hunter.
Douglas is a hunting town and many people are upset to hear news of the accident.
“It’s kind of sad that, I mean, that happened ‘cause I’m a hunter, my dad raised me and I love hunting. It’s just sad to see that,” said Jeffery Stockwell, a hunter.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Monday was the first day of the shotgun hunting and deer hunting season.
