Newly-crowned Miss Universe back home in RI

UNDATED (WHDH) -- The newly crowned Miss Universe is home for the holidays. Fresh off her big win, Olivia Culpo got back to Rhode Island this weekend.

She says she is looking forward to spending the holiday with her family and relaxing.

Culpo is happy to be back in her home state and is thrilled with how excited everyone is about her new title.

“I walk around Garden City and I'll see people that recognize me and congratulate me and that really means a lot. It's also so special hearing people say when I won, it felt like they won, too. So it means a lot, because I hope that's how it feels to everyone, because the state does mean a lot to me,” Culpo said.

Culpo won the Miss USA crown back in June. She is the first Miss Universe from Rhode Island.
