PROVIDENCE, R.I. (CNN) -- A Providence mother and her newborn baby are resting comfortably in the hospital Tuesday after an unusual delivery.
Delma Martinez gave birth in the backseat of the family's SUV while it was parked in their driveway just a few miles away from the hospital.
There wasn't enough time to make it to the hospital, so Martinez's mother, Pabla Morente, called 911 and helped deliver the baby.
Martinez's 11-year-old daughter was there, too.
"It was so crazy. She started crying more and more and she was saying, 'Oh the baby's coming the baby's coming,'" Jeimmy Alonzo tells Eyewitness News.
The baby arrived about a half hour later.
Rescue workers cut the cord when they arrived, then brought Martinez and her new baby boy to Women & Infants Hospital.
The baby doesn't have a name yet. The family is waiting for his father to help pick one, after he returns from a trip overseas.
