60-year-old cyclist killed in Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- Authorities said a 60-year-old man riding his bicycle near Westfield State University has killed after being struck by an SUV.

Police said Howard Beardslee was taken to Noble Hospital after he was struck at about noon on Sunday where he was pronounced dead.

Beardslee was struck a Ford Explorer traveling in the same direction.

The SUV's driver, a 32-year-old Westfield man, has not been cited but police say the accident remains under investigation.
