QUINCY, Mass. -- A man has turned himself into Quincy police after last weekend's road rage incident that left a Milton firefighter in critical condition.

Robert O'Connell, 39, walked into the police station with his attorney Wednesday morning. He was charged with armed assault with intent to murder. O'Connell is accused of shooting 30-year-old Joseph Fasano of Quincy in the stomach Saturday night.

7NEWS has learned that Fasano and his girlfriend live in a condo owned by the suspected shooter’s uncle. Small traces of cocaine were also found in the car the victim was driving on the night of the shooting.

After searching O'Connell's home on Tuesday night, police found two 45-caliber weapons, and one of them was connected to the crime. Officials also towed a Porsche from the residence.

Fasano, who is a firefighter from Milton, was driving with his girlfriend on Hancock Street near the Commander Shea Boulevard on-ramp when a sports car apparently zoomed in front his car, cut him off, and slammed on the brakes.

Both Fasano and O'Connell stopped their cars and got out. O'Connell then allegedly shot Fasano in the stomach and fled the scene.

Fasano was in critical but stable condition Tuesday night.
