Mass. man accused in racial murders found slashed
PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- A Massachusetts man charged with two racially motivated killings and once showed up in court with a swastika carved into his forehead is listed in stable condition after authorities said he suffered a self-inflicted slash wound to his neck.
The Plymouth County sheriff said Thursday that 23-year-old Keith Luke is receiving care at an undisclosed Boston hospital.
Sheriff Joseph McDonald Jr. said an investigation is under way. He did not specify what weapon Luke used.
Luke is being held without bail on charges connected to the slayings in Brockton of two people of Cape Verdean descent in January 2007. He allegedly told authorities he was trying to kill nonwhites and Jews.
His lawyer did not immediately return a message.
