Pedestrian dies after being struck in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- A Springfield woman has been charged with murder and assault after prosecutors say her car struck and killed a woman crossing a city street.
Forty-year-old Anna Franceschi pleaded not guilty and was held without bail at her arraignment Tuesday.
Police said 32-year-old Yasmin Marin of Springfield was walking across Main Street in the city's North End just after noon on Monday when she was struck. She was taken to a hospital where she died of her injuries.
A witness says Marin had been shopping and was struck after leaving a store.
