Fire destroys Milford house, scorches two others
MILFORD, Mass. (WHDH) -- Raging flames tore through a house in Milford leaving just ashes behind.
One home was left burned to the ground. Two others were scorched.
“All we was doing was screaming hoping nobody was in the house,” said one witness.
Thankfully nobody was in the home.
Video posted on Facebook by the Milford Police Department showed firefighters on scene.
Neighbors told 7News that all 6 members of the Ruberios family were not home at the time but that their family pet, a parrot, died when their home caught fire just after 4o’clock Saturday morning.
“Then I hear and explosion and I kinda jumped, I looked out the window and I saw the back of the house completely burnt,” said Shaii Lavandier.
The entire house later collapsed.
With rescue and cleanup crews already on scene, the neighbors on both sides of the home assessed their damage.
The Lavandier family is down two cars, and one entire side of their home was rendered uninhabitable. Their basement was flooded - still they felt lucky.
The damage was so extensive they had to bring in heavy equipment just to start the cleanup process. Witnesses on scene said the home burnt to the ground in an hour.
An investigation was underway in an effort to find out how to fire was started.
