Dad returns from deployment, surprises kids
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (WHDH) -- Some Framingham students were surprised at school thanks to their dad who returned home from his deployment a little early!
This hero's homecoming happened not once, but twice! And tonight four kids are very happy to have their father back.
Welcome home, dad. That's what one Framingham family is now saying, a few weeks early, and after one big surprise.
Army Sgt. Mousa Dassama had just spent the last nine months deployed in Afghanistan. He wasn't due home for another two weeks.
But he got back early and after a 36-hour drive from Texas, Dassama shocked his two youngest children, 5-year-old Marcia and 9-year-old Mousa at their elementary school on Friday, before heading to the middle school to surprise his two oldest.
He says it was tough being away from his kids for so long.
"I called the school, several times, talked to them and tell them that I loved them, and I missed them, and I have to brighten up their days in school because I know even though it's hard being away I also understand it's hard on them too that I’m not around,” said Sgt. Dassama.
The kids have their own plans now that dad's home.
"Play with him every day."
"Maybe we can play soccer together."
After all this, the hero still has one more surprise in store for his family.
"Secret surprise is already in Texas. I bought a house for them. So they don't know what's in the house until they get there,” said Sgt. Dassama.
The sergeant says this is probably the biggest surprise he's ever pulled on his kids. But now, he's just glad to be home.
