Somerville teen, Galileo Mondol, held without bail
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WHDH) -- Three Somerville teenagers are expected in court Tuesday, after being accused of raping freshmen boys at a soccer camp. 17-year-old Galileo Mondol and two other 16-year-olds have been charged.
Somerville's mayor, who was a chaperone on the retreat, says the attack likely happened just yards away from adults.
“He is adamant that he is 100 percent not guilty, but he recognizes the severity of the charges. So he's nervous, apprehensive, he's never been in court before,” said William Korman, Mondol’s attorney.
The school district will have support services available for students when they return to school on Wednesday.
Mondol was arraigned in an adult session in the district court, while the two other suspects were arraigned in juvenile session. Mondol is being held without bail pending a hearing to determine whether he is a danger to the public.
