WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -- Storms moved through the Bay State in a flash on Monday, sparking a few fires and causing some damage.
From sunshine to storms -- severe weather in some places moved in quickly.
“It was scary, it was scary because I knew I felt something,” said Mark Springstead, whose house was hit by lightning.
Waltham rescue had their hands full when the weather turned nasty and lightning struck a rooming house on Maple Street.
“It just hit and you felt the whole house,” said Laurie Waite.
“We got a report of a building fire, a lighting strike, when we got there we had a three story rooming house that was struck by lightning…electric line blew out an electric socket,” said Dep. Chief Andrew Mullin of the Waltham Fire Department.
Three residents were checked out by emergency responders, but refused medical treatment.
The storms popped up quickly and moved fast. Lightning hit one home in Haverhill as windswept rains moved across the region.
Fire officials said when you see a storm, take cover.
No injuries were reported in the lightning strikes.
