Lake beaches cleared to reopen in Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -- Worcester health officials have reopened two areas of Lake Quinsigamond to swimming, just in time for what is expected to be a hot weekend.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that Regatta Beach and Lake Park Beach were closed earlier this week due to high bacteria levels in the water.

The Division of Public Health said Friday that the latest samples taken from the lake indicated that the water had returned to acceptable standards.
