HOLDEN, Mass. (WHDH) -- A worker was rescued from 50-foot silo at a construction site in Holden Thursday.

The worker was attempting to clean the silo which had concrete dust inside. Fire officials say some of the concrete dust came loose from the side of the silo and trapped the worker at the bottom.

Fire officials secured the man, said to be in his 40s,  with ropes so he wouldn't fall any further into the silo and possibly suffocate from the dust. Fire crews were able to pull the man out.

The man was taken by helicopter to UMass Medical Center. 7News was told the worker is fine.

Some firefighters were also taken to the hospital for treatment after breathing in the concrete dust. The firefighters are said to be okay as well.

The rescue took about 90 minutes.
