WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -- From rain, freezing rain and sleet to snow and sleet and then back to rain - the precipitation in Worcester was constantly going back and forth making for a messy mix Thursday morning.

Worcester is full of elevation changes and the hill tops will generally see more snow but throughout the morning Thursday, it was a mixture of snow and sleet.

Temperatures were in the low 30s with an occasional burst of wind near 25-miles per hour. Roads were messy, covered with about four inches of heavy, wet snow that had been compacted by the sleet and freezing rain.

“Very heavy, very heavy snow, rain right after it made a mess,” said one man.

Slush and slop on the roadways made for a slow morning commute. Road crews were out taking care of main roads, but sidewalks and back roads were still slick Thursday afternoon.

Tree limbs were accumulating ice, but there wasn’t a significant ice build-up that would give way to downed trees and power lines.
