AUBURN, Mass. (WHDH) -- A person was struck and killed by a tractor trailer on Route 290 East in Auburn Monday afternoon.
State police say an unidentified person was driving a Toyota Camry when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the driver got out of the car as it was moving. The person was then struck by a tractor trailer.
According to state police, the car kept going for about 600 feet until it came to rest in the high-speed travel lane against the guardrail. Police say the driver of the tractor trailer stopped and remained at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
