Man found shot outside in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- Springfield police are investigating the city's second homicide of the year.

Police received a call for shots fired just before 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Responding officers found an unresponsive 42-year-old man on the ground outside suffering from multiple gunshots wounds.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced dead about a half hour later.

The victim's name was not immediately released.

The shooting remains under investigation and there was no word on suspects.
