Crews have tough time with floods in Clinton

CLINTON, Mass. -- First responders dealt with treacherous conditions across Clinton, which was one of the hardest hit areas during the storm.

Crews had a tough time with the area around the fire department on Main Street, which was flooded.

A nearby ballpark on Green Street was turned into a lake. In some spots, the water was almost completely covering the fence, and was halfway up the scoreboard.

Officials at the Clinton Elementary School also tried to fend off the rushing water, as they placed sandbags all around the brand new building.

Meanwhile, a sinkhole caused problems at the corner of Main and Church Streets, where crews worked late into the night to try to fix it. Behind that sinkhole, the flooding proved to be just too high for a van, as it nearly disappeared under the rising water.

Because of the severe flooding, all schools in Clinton were closed on Tuesday.
