Westborough lacrosse coach loses temper

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -- A lacrosse coach has been suspended after he allegedly tried to teach his players a harsh lesson.

The team had just lost a game when parents say the trouble began.

Players say coach Frank Arena reportedly lost his temper, throwing balls at players on his team.

Arena is accused of asking the kids to put cups on and head out to the field where he allegedly fired lacrosse balls at them as punishment.

Patty Robidoux’s 17-year-old son plays varsity lacrosse at Westborough High School.

“It is unfortunate because...the upperclassmen, the seniors, they love this coach,” Robidoux said.

The school gave parents a letter about the incident.

“It was pretty much just saying that there was an incident, didn’t go into a lot of detail...but that they were going to do an internal investigation but at this time the coach was suspended indefinitely,” Robidoux said.

Administrators at the school are still investigating the incident.
