UNDATED (WHDH) -- On Valentine’s Day, love is in the air. But how do you make your love last through the years?

7News turned to an expert for advice - Sarah French’s Grandmother Weenie gave her two cents.

Grandma Weenie was married to her husband for 61 years, and we wanted to get her recipe for a long-lasting love just in time for Valentine's Day.

So here’s some of Weenie’s wisdom for love in your life.

"Valentine’s Day is all about love...and I know about love,” said Grandma Weenie.

Weenie met the love of her life when she was 18 years old.

“We dated through college…went to Ole Miss. He finished the year before I did. I dated some other boys my year. Then I decided to teach and he was drafted into the war,” said Grandma Weenie.

They were married when he returned - but it was while he was away that Weenie learned absence really does make the heart grow fonder.

With Facebook and Twitter, we all do an awful lot of sharing but Weenie says to keep some parts of your relationship private.

"I had a box full of love letters that were just for me, but I decided that burn them and they wouldn't have a chance to read my love letters. My granddaughters are really mad about that, because they looked forward to reading those letters, but I disappointed them,” Grandma Weenie said with a laugh.

Laughter is key!

"Laughter is so important; there is nothing in this world more fun than laughter."

Her biggest piece of advice? Grandma Weenie, “A successful marriage is falling in love many times with the same person.”

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day with your loved ones.
