Woman flies from VA to donate blood after bombings
BOSTON (WHDH) -- A small bandaid covers a big gesture.
“I was just heartbroken, I was devastated, I was sad just like everybody else and I felt like, what can I do to help,” said Amanda.
Amanda flew hundreds of miles from Virginia to Boston with just one thought on her mind.
“Everyone can use my blood type because it’s O- so it was imperative that I do this.
She took the day off work, spent nearly $400 on an airline ticket, then made an appointment with MGH to donate blood.
“Most people thought I was a little nuts for doing this but I didn’t care. I know deep down they were proud.
A whirlwind trip with just enough time to do a good deed, grab a quick bite before she headed back to the airport.
“I came out here this morning, donated blood and now I’m off to get a lobster roll and head back home,” said Amanda.
