STANFORD, Calif. (NBC) -- Patients recently traded in hospital gowns for tuxedos and party dresses at California's Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.
It's prom night and Amanda Sechrest says it's a welcome distraction.
She is recovering from a heart and liver transplant and is tired of the same old hospital routine.
Rolling into the "Mystery of the Deep" party in the cafeteria in a wheelchair, wearing a navy blue gown, sparkling shoes and diamond earrings she was amazed.
Sechrest says the candy bar is her favorite spot, she's been craving chocolate and finally got some.
She is surrounded by smiling patients who for one night had a chance to forget about being sick and focus on having fun.
