Thousands of bees removed from Florida home

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WHDH) -- Thousands of bees were removed from a South Florida home Tuesday.

A hole in a wall at a Southwest Miami-Dade home provided the passage for thousands of bees. The family called on the Bee Man.

"This is a new swarm of bees. They entered yesterday with about 3,000 bees," said Willie "The Bee Man." "They came from another bee hive that was overcrowded. What happens is they leave and swam and go somewhere else."

Willie says the bees have probably already started building a hive inside the wall.

"In one day's time they can have a piece of wax as big as my hand," said Willie. "What the queen does is lay about 3,000 eggs a day and, about 21 days later, they start to emerge to adult bees."

In a matter of seconds and after a couple of sprays, the bees started to pour out of the hole.

Willie says the job may look easy, but if your home is ever filled with bees, it's always best to get an expert for the job.
