Cranston waitress hits jackpot with $500 tip

PROVIDENCE (NBC) -- A Cranston waitress says she'd be happy receiving a 20 percent tip at the pizza restaurant where she works, but was stunned when two customers recently left behind a 1,000 percent tip.
Kristen Ruggiero, a server at a pizza restaurant for 15 years, told the Providence Journal that she found five $100 bills in the check holder for a $42 meal.
She said she thought it was a mistake and put the money aside to return if the couple came by again.
They returned a month later last week and told her the oversized gratuity was no mistake. Ruggiero, a single mother of three children, said they told her she deserved the money.
On their second visit, the couple left a more modest, but still generous, tip: $22 for a $48 purchase.
