Red Sox rookies show their team spirit

BOSTON (WHDH) -- The Sox season is almost over and there are no playoffs in sight but the team still managed to have some fun with their rookies -- who were showing their team spirit.

The Sox rookies dressed-up as a cheer squad, complete with skirts and pom-poms and wigs - except for third baseman Will Middlebrooks. He was dressed as Dorothy from the "Wizard of Oz."

They actually made the guys take the train into New York City.

They were dropped off at Times Square and had to find their way back to the hotel.

It’s all part of a baseball tradition, for the last road trip of the season.
