Service dog fitted for prosthetic paw

ATLANTA (WHDH) -- A service dog can make a huge difference in the life of a person with a disability, but what if that dog is the one that is struggling with a disability?
From birth, puppies at the Canine Assistants near Atlanta have a purpose. They become highly-trained service dogs that are paired with people overcoming disabilities.
Experts at the Hanger Clinic stepped in. The company specializes in state of the art prosthetics for people, but their work with animals inspired the recent film “Dolphin Tale.”
Hanger fitted the dog with a plastic prototype. In a few weeks, he’ll have a custom-built, carbon-fiber foot, similar to those worn by Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius.
