Police identify victim of NYC boardwalk shooting
NEW YORK -- Police have identified the 16-year-old girl killed when two men opened fire at a crowded Brooklyn boardwalk.
Tysha Jones died at Coney Island Hospital of a gunshot wound to the torso. Four other people were wounded -- one critically -- in the incident Thursday.
Police say the Brighton Beach shooting may have been gang related.
Beach-goers ran for cover when the shots rang out around 5:30 p.m.
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne says police have questioned some people, but declined to say whether they were potential suspects.
The founder of the Brighton Neighborhood Association, Pat Singer, said the hot weather had brought hordes of young people to the beach.
