UNDATED -- Stuntman Josh Headford's motorbike hit a wire, sending him falling at least 25 feet.

“I really thought I was going to die, at that point,” Headford said. “I was flying through the air, I just closed my eyes and said, ‘Okay,’ and hit I the ground, and I was still breathing.”

Headford said at first, he thought he had broken his back.

“I could tell my leg was broken, I thought my hip might have just popped out a little bit, but then they ended pulling off my boots and felt it move, and then I said, 'yeah it's broken,’” said Headford.

The circus director said the wire was probably lowered or moved. Either way, it wasn't supposed to be there. Witnesses said it was a frightening image, that isn't easy to erase.

“Oh yeah, it will never be something that you can forget. I mean, just watching that - anything that horrific you will never forget it. So as I said, the only thing you can do is pray and hope that they recover fast and thank God that they're okay,” said Katrina Vanwell, a witness.

Headford broke his shoulder, leg, elbow, and wrist in the fall. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The circus is paying for all his medical bills, and Headford hopes they'll replace his motorcycle as well.
