LAKELAND, Fla. (WHDH) -- A scary attack was caught on camera in Florida when a customer at a McDonald’s jumped the counter and attacked the manager with a baseball bat.
Police say it was all because he was sick of waiting for someone to take his order.
It happened so quickly, no one saw him coming, and once he hit the other side of the counter, police say he just started swinging.
From beginning to end, the over-the-counter attack lasted less than 30 seconds. The man with the bat then simply let himself out and rather quietly took off.
"He very carefully tries to not leave fingerprints on the doorknob by using his shirt to turn the doorknob," Captain Greg Policastro of the Lakeland Police Department said.
The surveillance video of the attack doesn't clearly show his face, but police say it's one workers already know. One night earlier the same man was at the McDonald’s complaining about the service, and when he came back this time and was overlooked in line it all broke loose.
"He just started flipping out and he left and came back, jumped over the counter and started beating the manager who accidentally skipped over him with a bat," a worker said in a 911 call.
Police say the beating sent the manager to the hospital with some mostly minor injuries.
"Perhaps this individual has anger management issues or some other things going on in their life or in their mind that's creating this type of anger," Policastro said.
So far police have not identified the suspect.
