DANIA BEACH, Fla. (WHDH) -- Crews rescued a kitten found stuck in a storm drain Wednesday night.

Don Farrough was walking down Stirling Road in Dania Beach when he heard a loud noise coming from inside the storm drain. "I was just walking down the street, and that's when I could hear the sounds, and I was kind of surprised. I looked down, and that's when you can hear it. It was very, very loud," said Farrough.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and tried to attract the kitten with small piles of ham, but they were not successful. "He's stuck in the middle, and we can't seem to get him out right now, so we are going to attempt and force him out that way, so I can get him," said Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue engineer Mike Dara.

As another firefighter forced the water on the other side of the drain, Dara was in position to grab the kitten and pulled it out of the storm drain.

The kitten was safely taken out of the drain and taken to Animal Control.
