UNDATED (WHDH) -- A nationwide recall was issued after numerous people have become sick from dog food.
The CDC is investigating whether Diamond brand pet foods are contaminated with salmonella.
Fourteen people have become ill and five people have been hospitalized. The people did not eat the dog food, but they may have caught the germs by touching the food or their pets.
The illness has been detected in nine states. Connecticut is the only New England state thus far.
