Man, teen steal Rolex from jewelry store

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WHDH) -- A pair of thieves remain at large after they stole a pricey watch from a South Florida jewelry store.
The robbery occurred at Luany Jewelers along Bird Road and Southwest 98th Avenue, just after 1 p.m., Thursday.
A man entered the store and asked to try on a $6,000 Rolex watch. Surveillance cameras captured the man, who is in his 40s or 50s, as he tried on the expensive watch.
Moments later, a teenage boy walked up to the front door of the jewelry store. The teen can be seen on surveillance video as he tried to get into the store, but the door was locked and he had to be buzzed in.
Employee Antonio Gonzalez followed protocol and made the suspect take off the watch before he opened the door to let the boy inside the store. "He let the kid in, and once [the suspect] put on the watch, they both ran, and they couldn't open the door, so he kicked the door," said Nate Ojeda, the jewelry store owner.
The man shattered the glass front door, and he and the teen fled the scene in what is believed to be a blue Toyota RAV4. In Spanish, Gonzalez said he tried running after the duo, but by the time he got to the front of the store, the two were gone.
Ojeda is now hoping someone will recognize the crooks and alert authorities. "The best thing was, we had surveillance video, so we could at least try to see if we can get the suspects," he said.
Ojeda believes the older suspect was wearing a fake beard at the time of the robbery.
If you have any information on the suspects' whereabouts, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
