Baby bikini coverup get mixed reviews from parents

UNDATED (WHDH) -- An infant bodysuit featuring a bikini-clad female body has some parents doing a double take.

Right on the bag it says 'Something Unexpected’, and when parents see what's in it, that's certainly their reaction.

"I don't think it's appropriate for a small child,” Cathryn McKee said. “I just think that is a little ridiculous that you would put that on your child."

“I just think it’s not appropriate, because it gives young people the wrong idea too quickly," parent Greg Rowsey said.

Other parents said people need to lighten up and that the outfit is just a joke.

"I just think people overreact to stupid stuff,” Jeannie Stanley said. “I just don't take offense to that at all."

Since toddlers don't go shopping, it's parents and adults that choose what their little ones wear. Saddie Webb says it's a sign of the times.

"I could be 18 years old and that would never be allowed in [my mother’s] house, ever."

Laura Faulkner has a little boy that's 19-months-old, and says if she saw one of his playmates wearing one of these it wouldn't go over very well.

Clearly parents come down on two different sides on the baby bikini. Calls to the manufacturer were not immediately returned.
