Ky. police seek inmate with Bay State ties

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The search is on for an escaped inmate from a Kentucky prison with local ties.

Police say Derek Capozzi, 37, escaped from a prison transport van on Thursday morning.

He’s serving time for the attempted murder of a corrections officer.

Capozzi was also involved in the 1996 gang murder of a Medford woman.

Kentucky State Police are searching for him on the ground with dogs and in the air with helicopters.
