Off-duty firefighter dubbed 'Superman' after battling blaze

DENVER (WHDH) -- An off-duty firefighter earned the nickname Superman after he saved several lives on his way home from a baseball game.
A Colorado man said it could have been much worse -- his wife, sister and friends were at the house when lightning struck their roof and a fire started.
That’s when Nate Kelley drove by, saw the flames and jumped over the house’s fence and asked the homeowners where their hose was. The fire was venting out the side of the house.
The family thought Kelley was trying to mess with them -- they didn’t know he was an off-duty firefighter. Kelley nearly put out the flames single handedly, until the fire department arrived.
Kelley said he doesn’t view himself as a hero and he was just there to help the family.
