Mary Kennedy's family decries RFK Jr. accusations
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) -- Mary Richardson Kennedy's family says her husband's accusations about her behavior before she hanged herself are scurrilous and vindictive.
The family has released a statement responding to Sunday's disclosure of a filing made last year by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the couple's divorce case.
In the affidavit, Robert Kennedy accuses his wife of abusing his children from an earlier marriage and stealing from them and him.
Mary Kennedy hanged herself last month at the family's estate in Bedford, N.Y. The divorce was pending.
The Richardson family statement called the affidavit a brutal psychological weapon. It says the relatives had hoped Mary Kennedy could rest in peace.
A message left at Robert Kennedy's office was not immediately returned.
