Police warn parents about weed candy
UPPER MERION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (NBC) -- ice are warning parents about a growing trend in marijuana use popping up in local schools. It’s a mixture of marijuana and sugar-based liquids called “weed candy.”
The Limerick Police Department released the following statement on “Weed Candy” on their Facebook page:
“This was actually turned in to Upper Merion Police by a concerned parent," said Detective Andrew Rathfon of the Upper Merion Township Police Department. "Their concern was that it was in a package with no label. It looked like it was manufactured in a home."
Detectives say it’s the perfect way to avoid detection since you don’t have to light up.
"It’s very concerning for parents because this could easily get into schools," said local parent Tracy Sullivan.
Investigators are unsure if "weed candy" will merely be a short-term fad in the drug world or if it’ll be around for a while. Local police continue to investigate.
