Thief ransacks new Florida boutique
NAPLES, Fla. (NBC) -- A high-end Naples boutique was ripped off in a major heist, Wednesday.
It happened at the Heart and Soul Boutique just off Pine Ridge Road.
"This was our dream -- now it's become a nightmare," said store owner, Kirsten Ferrara.
Detectives say this is one of the more "aggressive" break-ins they've ever seen.
The thief tried busting down the hurricane windows with rocks to get in the store, but couldn't get through.
After cutting wires to disable the store's alarm and failing to get in, the suspect left the property and came back with more tools, eventually breaking in with a sledgehammer and crow-bar.
"They just, they just rampaged my dream," Ferrara said.
Once inside, he skipped over the obvious valuables like the cash register, Apple computers and iPads.
Instead he spent nearly an hour handpicking items, taking over $100,000 in clothing and jewelry before getting away.
Store owner Kirsten Ferrara said her and her friend just opened the store a few months ago.
"Me and my friend poured a lot of heart and soul into our dreams, this was our dream and now it's become a nightmare."
"Honestly, if someone came to us and said we like that but can't afford it, we'd probably give it to them, that's the way we are," Ferrara said.
Detectives say they're still in the early stages of the investigation - and are trying to develop suspect information at this time.
