Girl asked not to cheerlead because of Down syndrome
DEER PARK, Texas (WHDH) -- Parents in Texas are looking for answers after the school asked their daughter not to participate in cheerleading.
The school said the Brittany Davila’s Down syndrome was a liability.
“[Cheerleading] is her favorite thing to do. She doesn't understand why they are telling her she can't do it. I don't know what to tell her,” Buffy Davila, Brittany’s mother, said.
A spokesperson for the school said Brittany is welcome to participate as an honorary member of the freshman cheerleading squad.
