Unprovoked attack in Tampa caught on camera

TAMPA (WHDH) -- A brutal beating in the middle of a Florida street left a man in the hospital. The victim was jumped while walking by himself.

Police are looking for the men behind the crime that was caught on surveillance camera.

A brutal punch knocked the man to the ground.

Police say three men walked up to the 24-year-old victim. One asked for a dollar. As the victim replied, the three men started punching and kicking his face and upper body.

Moments later, a fourth man ran down the street, joining in the attack.

Police hope the video leads to an arrest.

“Due to the violent nature of this crime we need the public's help figuring out who these people are. It's an extremely violent, unprovoked attack,” said an officer said.

During the beating, the robbers went through the victims pockets, taking his wallet and cell phone.

Officers say the victim knocked on a neighbor's door and called police.

The victim remains in the hospital.
